Given :- 10 cylindrical pillars of a building have to be painted if the diameter of each pillar is 50 cm and the height is 4 metre what will be the cost of painting this at rate of 50 paise per metre square ?

Solution :-

we have ,

  • Diameter of each cylindrical pillar = 50 cm.
  • Radius of each cylindrical pillar = (diameter/2) = 50/2 = 25 cm = 0.25 m.
  • Height of each cylindrical pillar = 4 m.

we know that,

  • curved surface area of cylinder = 2 * π * radius * Height .

So,

→ CSA of each pillar = 2 * π * 0.25 * 4 = 2π m².

then,

→ CSA of 10 cylindrical pillars = 10 * 2π = 20π = 20 * 3.14 = 62.8 .

now, we have,

→ cost of painting of 1m² area = 50 paise = Rs.0.5

then,

→ cost of painting of total area of 10 cylindrical pillars = 0.5 * 62.8 = Rs.31.4 (Ans.)

Hence, The cost or Painting the 10 cylindrical pillars is Rs.31.4 .
