since grass has cellulose in it, it is difficult to digest, for this animals like cows even have 4 stomachs

the food is digested in a cycle. first it goes into the stomach and then returns to mouth in the form of cud, this process in ruminants (grass eating animals) is called rumination. it helps in digestion of cellulose completely.
