a)a pencil writes on a piece of paper but not on glass:
Friction between the pencil graphite and the paper removes bits of the graphite which leaves a mark on the paper. Glass surface is smooth and hence friction is less and writing is not possible.
(b) climbing a greasy pole is very difficult.
It is difficult to climb on a grease pole because when we want to climb a pole there should be friction which help us to climb it and due to grease on pole it decreases the friction to very low point where we are not able to make grip on the pole hence making it difficult for us to climb.
