Let the present age of A be y and of B is x

Now according to 1st condition

⇒4(x − 5) = y − 5

⇒4x − 20 = y − 5

⇒y = 4x − 15

(i) Now according to 2nd condition

⇒5 + y = 2(x + 5)

∴ 5 + (4x − 15) = 2(x + 5)

∴ x = 10

now from eq. (i) we get,

⇒y = 25

∴ y = 25 and x = 10

A's age = 25 and B's age = 10.
