16 g of X

Explanation:

6 g of O₂ reacts with unknown element X to give X₂O₃ of 10 g.

so the mass of unknown element X = 10 - 6 = 4 g

Reaction:

2X + 3/2 O₂ → X₂O₃

48 g of O₂ → 2X + 48 of X₂O₃

6 g of oxygen → 10 g of X₂O₃

48 g of oxygen = Y g of X₂O₃

∴ Y = 10 × 48/6

      = 80 g of X₂O₃

2X + 48 = mass of X₂O₃

2X + 48 = 80

X = 32/2

    = 16 g of X

Atomic mass of X will be 16 g.
