The duty of Iqtadar or Muqtis was to maintain law and order in their iqtas and in exchange of their services, they collected revenues of their assignments as salary. Also, they paid the soldiers from the revenue they collected. And these muqtis were assigned iqtas for a short period of time only to maintain control.
