Given :  Identical cubes are stacked in the corner of a room as shown

below.

To Find :  The number of cubes that are not visible  

Solution:

First find total cubes

5 in corner

then  2 x  (4 + 3 + 2 + 1) = 20  cubes adjacent to wall

then  3 cubes   in corners ( created by  cubes adjacent to walls)

then 2 x ( 2 + 1)  = 6  cubes adjacent to  cubes adjacent to walls

then 1 more cube

Hence Total  = 5 + 20 +  3 +  6   + 1   = 35 cubes

Cubes visible = 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1  = 15

number of cubes that are not visible = 35 - 15 = 20

number of cubes that are not visible are​ 20
