My guess is, forget the fact the boys are there, it says men OR boys. 4 men take 40 days to complete the work. You now have 12 men which is 3 times the amount of men you had before. I think you should do 40/3 which equals out to 13.3333333333 which is about 13.3 hours or 13 hours and 18 minutes.
