10. In a Young's experiment, the width of the fringes obtained with light of wavelength 6000 A is 20 mm. What
will be the fringe width, if the entire apparatus is immersed in a liquid of refractive index 133 ?

★ YDSE :- YOUNG'S DOUBLE SLIT EXPERIMENT ....

GIVEN ;

∆ ß { Fringe Width} = 20 mm = 2 × 10-² m

∆ lambda (wavelength) = 6000 Å

∆ μ ( Refractive index ) of liquid = 1.33 = 4/3

We know that ;

» ß ( medium ) = { 1 / μ ) × ß ( air )

» ß ( liquid ) = { 1 / (4/3) } × 2 × 10-²

» ß ( liquid ) = 3 / 4 × 2 × 10-²

» ß ( Liquid ) = 1.5 × 10-² = 15 mm

«★» Hence ; Fringe Width in liquid is 15 millimeters OR 15 mm...
