10. In the adjoining figure, ABCD is a rectangle of
size 18 cm by 10 cm. In ABEC, ZE = 90° and
EC = 8 cm. Find the area of the shaded region.​

Area of rectangle = l×b

= 18 × 10

= 180cm^2

In triangle EBC:

H^2-B^2=P^2

10^2-8^2=P^2

100-64 =P^2

36 =P^2

6cm =BC

Area of EBC = 1/2×b×h

= 1/2×8×6

= 24cm^2

Ar(ABECD) =Ar(ABCD)-Ar(EBC)

=180-24

=156cm^2
