The value of net resistance is minimum in case (iii).

Explanation:

Net resistance in case (1) = R1 = 2 Ω

Net resistance in case (2) = R2 = 2 + 2 = 4  Ω

Net resistance in case (3) =1/ R3 = 1/2 + 1/2 = 1   Ω

Since H = (Potential difference)V^2 / Total Resistance R  x time

As voltage in the three cases for equivalent resistance is same.

Thus H ∝ 1 / R

Now value of net resistance is minimum in case (iii)

So heat produced will be maximum.

Answer: maximum  in case 3

Explanation:

Heat =\frac{V^{2} }{R}x T

Case 1

H = 72J

Case 2

H = 36J

Case 3

H = 144J

hence heat is maximum in case 3

Note: H ∝ R holds true if the current is the same in all the cases
