(10) Iqbal has decided to buy a car. He has to choose between a diesel car and a petrol car. The diesel car costs Rs. 12600 more than the petrol car. However, it can travel 15 kilometres per litre, whereas the petrol car can only travel 12 kilometres per litre. Also, diesel costs Rs. 48.00 per litre, and petrol costs Rs. 63.60 per litre. If he buys a diesel car, how far must he drive before the savings in fuel covers the extra price of the diesel car?

I need procedure too

Answer:

6000 km

Step-by-step explanation:

Assume he drive x km to cover the extra price

Petrol Used = x/12

Price Paid = (x/12)*63.6  = 5.3 x

Diesel Used = x/15

Price Paid = (x/15)*48= 3.2x

Extra price Paid = 5.3x - 3.2x = 2.1x

2.1x = 12600

so x = 6000 km
