Given :  Kate bought 10 apples at $x for 4 apples, m bananas at $1.25 each, (3n + 1) oranges at $3.00 for  4 oranges.

To Find : the total cost of the fruits she bought.

Solution:

4 apples  cost  $x

=> 1 apple cost =   $x/4

=> 10 apples cost =  10 *x/4  = $ 2.5x

1 Banana cost  =   $ 1.25

=> m Bananas cost  =   $ 1.25m

4 oranges cost  = $ 3

1 orange cost = $ 3/4 = $ 0.75

3n + 1 oranges cost =  (3n + 1)(0.75)  =  $   2.25n + 0.75

total cost of the fruits she bought.  = (2.5x +  1.25m +  2.25n + 0.75)  $

$ (2.5x +  1.25m +  2.25n + 0.75)  is the total cost of the fruits she bought.
