लोकमान्य तिलक भारतीय स्वतन्त्रता संग्राम के प्रमुख क्रांतिकारियों में से एक थे।  

बाल गंगाधर तिलक का वास्तविक नाम केशव गंगाधर तिलक था।  

इनका जन्म 23 जुलाई 1856 को महाराष्ट्र राज्य के रत्नागिरी जिले में हुआ।  

इनकी माता का नाम पार्वती बाई  पिता का नाम गंगाधर पंत था जो एक शिक्षक थे।  

पंद्रह वर्ष की आयु में ही इनका विवाह ताराबाई से हो गया।  

बाल गंगाधर तिलक ने 1876 में बी ए उत्तीर्ण की तत्पश्चात इन्होने 1879 में क़ानून की पढ़ाई की।  

इन्होने भारत को आज़ाद कराने के लिए बहुत संघर्ष  किया।  

सन 1905 में इन्होने स्वदेशी आंदोलन शुरू किया और स्वदेशी वस्तुओं के उपयोग पर जोर दिया।  

बाल गंगाधर तिलक 1890 में कांग्रेस से जुड़े, जिसमे ये गरम दल के प्रमुख नेता थे।  

इन्होने मराठा दर्पण और केसरी नामक पत्रिकाओं का संपादन किया।

बाल गंगाधर तिलक ने ही महाराष्ट्र में गणपति महोत्सव  शिवाजी महोत्सव मनाने शुरुआत की।  

इन्हे 6 वर्ष की काला पानी की जेल हुई। जिसके लिए इन्हे मांडले भेजा गया।  

इन्होने सन 1916 ऐनी बेसेंट के साथ मिलकर पुणे में होम रूल लीग की स्थापना की।  

इन्होने "स्वराज्य हमारा जन्म सिद्ध अधिकार है" का नारा दिया।
