• It is not prudent to depend on one's children once they have grown up and  have started living their own lives.
• It is not fair to expect your sons and daughters to give up their careers and move to where you are living to always be around to cater to your needs. At best they can support you financially but remotely and visit you occasionally.
• Learn to accept that once your sons and daughters get married, your family is not expanding. A new family is being created.
• Let us not believe that we own our children. We are merely the medium through which they entered this world. They did not ask us to be born. We created them. Our duty is to support them till they are able to take care of themselves, and not expect anything in return. They will take care of the next generation, who in turn will do the same for the next generation.
• Children are not an investment from whom returns should be expected.
