Explanation:

I am the heaviest flying bird in India that’s why I feel proud because it known as Great Indian Bustard. I have 30 different names in Indian languages. In Marathi, it is known as “Maldhok| and “Hoom”. My weight is 18 kilos and my height is 4 feet. So, I can easily touch people shoulder or even higher. I have long white neck, brown wings, tall yellow legs and a black cap on my head. Mrs. Bustard my wife is smaller and slimmer than me. Her neck is not white. But everyone said that we both look impressive and beautiful.

I have friend including Chinkara, blackbirds and larks. We all live on grasslands and deserts. I eat everything including snakes, lizards, small fruits and berries and all sorts of insects, that’s a healthy food for me. My favorite food is a grasshopper and beetles. In a rainy season me and my friends all gather at grasslands, where nobody disturbs us. Then we all dance and produced sounds like “hoom”. By dancing in rain we attract our soulmates.

We don’t believe in building the nest. We live in grasslands. We have special trick to protect our eggs and chicks from our enemies. Our enemies are snakes, pigs, dogs, monitor lizards, foxes and eagles because our eggs looks like stones. And mother bustard is always stays with the eggs and the chicks. Mother bustard live with the eggs and chicks for whole one year so, they can learn good habit form their mother.

One of our good human friend Dr. Salim Ali had suggested that we should get the status as National Bird. But it was to our beautiful relative Peacock. But I am happy and feel proud that we get the status by declaring us, state bird of Rajasthan. I have to share one more thing with you. In olden days Bustards are available in every part of our country. But after some time when population increase our number decreases rapidly. That’s because of hunting. We afraid of hunters, they kill us. And the electric power lines we can’t see at the time when we fly. Because of this only 200 Bustard are remaining in the country.

If you want to help us. We are always welcome you. You can make our picture and make a note and submit it to your teacher. Your teacher can collect this pictures and give it to the leader of our country. So this your small help can bring the change. With the help of you we can survive until some period otherwise there are only pictures will left which shows our identity.

Answer:

The great Indian bustard (Ardeotis nigriceps) or Indian bustard is a bustard found on the Indian subcontinent. A large bird with a horizontal body and long bare legs, giving it an ostrich like appearance, this bird is among the heaviest of the flying birds. Once common on the dry plains of the Indian subcontinent, as few as 150 individuals were estimated to survive in 2018 (reduced from an estimated 250 individuals in 2011)[2] and the species is critically endangered by hunting and loss of its habitat, which consists of large expanses of dry grassland and scrub. These birds are often found associated in the same habitat as blackbuck. It is protected under Wildlife Protection Act 1972 of India.
