Ram and lakshman were the sons of King Dashrath in the epic Ramayana. Ram (son of Kausalya) and Lakshman (son of Sumitra) were cousins but were very close to each other and considered themselves as real brothers. When Ram was sent to exile by his father and stepmother Kaikeyi, Lakshman agreed to go with him due to their relationship.Lakshman was by Ram's side every time they were in a problem in their 14 years' exile.Lakshman also helped Ram and Hanuman bring Sita back from Lanka after she was kidnapped by the evil Ravana. Both of them have sacrificed many things for each other. They had such love affection that they followed each other in almost everything everywhere.
