Given:-

  • Total Quantity of milk=40 litres
  • per litre rate of milk by purchasing=84p
  • per litre rate of milk by selling=66p

To Find:-

  • Profit or loss by selling the whole quantity

Solution:-

  • At first calculate the total quantity of milk than calculate amount of selling and purchasing after that calculate profit or loss here]

Total quantity=Quantity milk+Quantity water

Total quantity=40+10=50 litres

  • Now calculate here purchasing amount]

Total amount after purchasing quantity]

Total amount=84×40=3360p

  • Than calculate here selling amount]

Total amount after selling quantity]

Total amount=66×50=3300p

  • It's clearly mentioned above that Selling amount is less than purchasing amount so, we will get loss here]

Loss=Purchasing amount-Selling amount

Loss=3360-3300=60p

Hence,

we will get loss of 60p by selling the whole quantity.

\bigstar Given :

  • 10 litres of water mixed with 40 litres of milk is purchased at 84 p per litre

\bigstar To Find :

  • Profit or loss by selling whole quantity of milk at Rs.66 per litre

\bigstar Solution :

First of all we need to find total selling price at 84 p per litre .

\bigstar Case - 1 :- At 84 p per litre [ Purchasing price ]

⇒ Total quantity = Quantity of water + Quantity of milk

⇒ Total quantity = 10 + 40 litres

Total quantity = 50 litres

For 1 litre it costs 84 p per litre.

So , For 50 litres ,

⇒ 50 × 84 = 4200

So the purchasing price at 84 p per litre is Rs.4,200

Now we need to find total selling price at 66 p per litre

\bigstar Case 2 :- At 66 p per litre [ Selling price ]

It is clearly a loss , as the rate per litre decreases .

So selling price at Rs.66 per litre is ,

⇒ 50 × 66

⇒ 3300

So the selling price at 66 p per litre is 3,300 p

So ,

Loss = Purchasing price - Selling price

⇒ Loss = 4200 - 3300

⇒ Loss = 900

So the loss is 900 p
