10 ml of liquid A is mixed with 5 ml of liquid B. The volume of resultant solution is 9.8 ml. What type of deviation expected from Raoult's law?

The ideal volume would be :

10 ml + 5 ml = 15ml

The volume after mixing = 9.8 ml

The difference is :

9.8 - 15 = - 5.2 ml

The deviation is thus - 5.2 ml.

From this we can say that :

It is a negative deviation from Raoult's law and thus the solution is non - ideal.
