Answer:

1.5km

Step-by-step explanation:

Note :

Speed = distance / time

=> Distance (d) = Speed (s) * time (t)

Lets consider the time to reach the school be t

Time taken by Neha = t + 3

Time taken by Neeraj = t - 5

Speed of Neha = 5km/h

(as time is in min convert speed to min)

=> 5/60km/m

=> 1/12 km/m

Speed of Neeraj = 9km/h

=> 9/60km/m

=> 3/20km/m

Distance of both are same

d1 = d2

=> s*t = s*t

=> 1/12 * ( t + 3 ) = 3/20 * ( t - 5 ).

=> t + 3 = 3 ( t - 5 )

12 20

=> t + 3 = 3t - 15

12 20

=> 20 ( t + 3 ) = 12 ( 3t - 15 )

=> 20t + 60 = 36t - 180

=> 60 + 180 = 36t - 20t

=> 240 = 16t

=> t = 240 / 16

=> t = 15

To find the distance ( Neha )

d = s * t

=> d = 1/12 * ( t + 3 )

=> d = 15 + 3

12

=> d = 18/12

=> d = 1.5km
