Lets assume, that with “plane” you meen a level surface and not an airplane. And further that “drop” means “start with zero initial velocity. (as opposed to throw)

Then the velocity is given by v=at and near the surface of the earth v = g = 9.81 m/s2

So after 10s v=9.81*10 = 98.1m/s (ignoring airresistance)

With a smooth steel ball this will be quite accurate, a styropor ball on the other hand would be very much slower.
