Sparrows are small birds. They have brown, black, grey and white feathers. They have short tails; their beaks are also short and strong. They eat seeds, insects, fruit, and berries. They usually live in flocks. They make their nests at safe places in houses, buildings, bushes, trees or under bridges. Female sparrow lays legs and looks after the baby sparrows and fledglings. Female sparrow is smaller than its male counterpart. Male sparrow has a dark spot on its throat. Owing to urbanization and industrialization, sparrows population has reduced a lot in India.  To conserve this species of bird many conservation programs have been initiated. Celebrating World Sparrow Day on March 20 every year is one of them. Two organozations dedicated to the cause of wildlife conservation, the Nature Forever Society and the Burhani Foundation (India) have started ‘SOS’ (Save Our Sparrow) program.
