Let the number of boys took part in a mathematics quiz is x
and number of girls took part in a mathematics quiz is y .
total number of students took part in a mathematics quiz = 10
e.g.,. x + y = 10 ........(1)
a/c to question, if number of girls is 4 more than the number of boys.
y = x + 4 ............(ii),
solving equations (i) and (ii),
x + x + 4 = 10
=> 2x + 4 = 10
=> 2x = 10 - 4 = 6
=> x = 3. and y = 7.
hence, number of boys = 3
number of girls=7
and number of girls took part in a mathematics quiz is y .
