Let other number be = 'y'

x + y = 44 ----- (1)

x - y = 4 ------- (2)

Subtracting (2) from (1)

2y = 40

y = 20 ------ (3)

Putting (3) in (1) 5

x + 20 = 44

x = 44 - 20

x = 24

∴ x = 24 and y = 2

We have to find x : y
