Answer:

answer is man = 25 and son = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

given man and son average is 20, so we can say

(manAge+ sonAge)/2 = 20 ....... eq. (1)

given after 10 years ratio , man : son = 2:1

let man age after 10 years = 2x

let son age after 10 years = x

so before 10 years man age = 2x-10

before 10 years son age = x-10

so from eq. (1) we can say

(2x-10+x-10)/2 = 20

=> 3x-20 = 40

=>x = 20

so man age = 2 * 20 -10 = 30

so son age = 20 - 10 = 10

so before 5 years man age = 30 -5 = 25

so before 5 years son age = 10 -5 = 5
