10. The following transactions of a book shop
'Gajendra Book Store' in Odisha show the
sale and purchase of books:

(1) Bought books at the list price of
3,00,000 from Kolkata, West Bengal
with 20 % trade discount.

(2) Sold books at the list price of * 4,25,000
to 'Khan Brothers' in Cuttack, Odisha
with 20% trade discount.

If both the CGST and SGST charged are
@ 6% each, calculate all the applicable taxes
to be added and hence find the selling price
of the books for 'Khan Brothers'.

Step-by-step explanation:

dist=20%=1/5

so if 5 is the list price 4 is the selling price. but marked price of the book is not 5 but 60,000 more than 5. similarly the selling price is not 4 but 60000 times more than 4 which is 2,40,000

(2). dist.=20%=1/5

marked price is 5 then selling price is 4

but the mp is not 5 but 85,000 more similarly the selling price is not 4 but 85000 more than 4 which is 3,40,000.

1st 6%of 340000=20400 tax of cgst.

2nd 6%of 340000=20400 tax of sgst.

total tax =20400+20400=40800

total selling price=340000+40800=3,80,8000
