We know that, Product of Numbers = Product of their HCF and LCM.

Let the other number be x.

Therefore,

24 × 480 = 120 × x

=> x = 24 × 480/120

=> x = 24 × 4

=> x = 96.

Required number = 96.

The other number is 96 if HCF and LCM of two numbers are 24 and 480 and one number is 120.

Given :

HCF of two numbers = 24

LCM of two numbers = 480

One number = 120

To find: Other number

Formula used :

HCF × LCM = first number  ×  Other number

SOLUTION :

Step1: Substitute the value of HCF, LCM, and other number in the above formula:

One number = 120 , HCF of two numbers = 24 , LCM of two numbers = 480

As we know that,

HCF × LCM = One number  ×  Other number

24 × 480 = 120 × Other number

Other number = \frac{24\  \times \ 480}{120}

Other number = 24 × 4

Other number = 96

Hence, the other number is 96.
