10. The molecular formula of three fatty acids A, B and C present in oil or
fat is C12H29COOH, C15H29COOH and C16H2COOH. Which of these is
derived from i) Alkane ii) Alkene and iii) Alkyne? Which of them becomes
rancid earlier? How can we increase its shelf life?​

Answer is as follows :

i) No one among them is derived from alkane as C12H29-COOH is not possible

ii) ALKENE

C15H29-COOH as alkyl branch ( C15H30 ) is of the form CnH2n i.e. general form of alkene

iii)ALKYNE

C16H29-COOH as alkyl branch ( C16H30 ) is of form CnH2n-2 i.e. general form of alkyne
