Let the age of the father be x, then the age of the daughter would be (56−x).

After four years, the age of father would be (x+4) and that of daughter would be (56−x+4) years. Now, from the information given in the question,.we have

(x+4)=3(56−x+4)

⇒x+4=168−3x+,12⇒4x=168+12−4=176⇒ 44 years,

Therefore, the age of father and daughter is 44 years and 12 years, respectively.
