10. The sum of two rational numbers is 8. If one of the

Let the other rational number be as x

 \frac{ - 5}{6}  + x = 8

x = 8 +  \frac{5}{6}

x =  \frac{53}{6}

So the other rational number is 53/6 .

x =  \frac{8}{1}  +  \frac{5}{6}

x =  \frac{48 + 5}{6}

x =  \frac{53}{6}
