he walked for 40 min and covered 6 km by walking

Step-by-step explanation:

let he walks for x km

then he runs for( 10km -x km)

total time taken =52min=52/60hours

then

x/9 +(10-x) /20=52/60

(20x+90-9x)/180=13/15

(11x+90)/180=13/15

11x+90=(13/15)*180

11x+90=13*12

11x=156-90=66

x=6km

he walks 6km

and runs 10-6=4km

time taken in walking for 6km =6/9=2/3=40/60

he walks for 40min
