"Sudden orders from Berlin made Franz and people realise about the preciousness of their mother tongue"
Explanation:
The last lesson written by Alphonse Daudet portrayed about the year 1870 when the Prussian forces under Bismarck assaulted and catched France. The French districts of Alsace and Lorraine move into Prussian hands. The new Prussian rulers abandoned the teaching of French in the schools of these two districts.
The French teachers were asked to holiday. Now M. Hamel could no longer pause in his school. Still he gave lesson to his students with greatest devotion and sincerity as ever. One such like student of M. Hamel, Franz who fired French class and M. Hamel’s iron rod, came to the school that day thinking he would be penalized as he had not learnt his lesson on participles.
