Proof:- take some ice and check its density and heat it to make water and check its density both densities are equal

Ice is a solid which has more density than water , but water is less density than ice  

So we can prove that ice has more density by dropping it in water. If it floats it has smaller density , really it will sink which it has greater density whereas water will not float nor sink .
