It has to be the story of my grandfather and his brother. They were the children of a farmer (my great-grandpa, duh) and spent the whole of their childhood and youth in a small village, Jamner. They almost had a fixed schedule as chiNow, presently, my father is a radiologist, one of my uncles is an opthalmologist and both have well-established practices in the suburbs of Jalgaon, where we now live. The other two of my uncles are now in Mumbai, they too have respectable careers. My aunt is also married into an ideal family and has a comfortable life.
We always gather here at our mansion-like (just kidding, but nevertheless ,it is yuuuuge) house in Jalgaon during the traditional festival of Diwali and then the feeling of the duo’s wrought prosperity amplifies.
It was through the annual reminisces, that the adults have at these get-togethers, that I became aware of the mammoth difference in their and our lifestyles.
I sometimes shudder at even the thought of how my life would have been if not for their sincere efforts in raising their progeny.ldren:-Get up at 0430, Pray, Go to school, Come home and have a meagre meal of bread and pickle, Leave for the farms and toil, Come home and have the same dishes for dinner, Sleep.
