Answer :-

It is true that necessity is the mother of invention, As we can look up the history, we find that whenever there was need, there was invention.

Same applies in the given story. The young seagull was so hungry and helpless because he haven't made his first flight yet. He was so scared of flying, He believed that his wings won't support him in flying and that he might get hurt. The young seagull was dying from hunger, that he decided to make his first flight. It is because his hunger was so intense that he couldn't resist anymore and decided to fly. Here, In this case, the necessity was to feed himself to get rid of the hunger and the invention was that he flied for the first time for which he was scared. Hence, we can say that Necessity is the mother of invention.

Some other examples from the history :-

When we look into our history, we find inventions and a tonne of them. We needed to calculate with almost 100% accuracy and to reduce human efforts so We invented the computer. We wanted to communicate around the globe at any given time without travelling, so we invented the Internet. There are plenty of examples.
