10 years ago hema's age was thrice the geeta's age.if after 10 years hema will be 40 years old what is geeta's present age?

Let the age of hema = x yrs

Let the age of geeta is = y yrs

10 years ago

x - 10 = 3( y - 10)

x - 10 = 3y - 30

x - 3y = - 20. Eq 1

Afyer 10 years

x + 10 = (y + 10) + 40

x + 10 = y + 50

x - y = 40. Eq2

Now multiply eq2 by 3 and subtract from eq 1

3x - 3y = 120

x - 3y - (x - y) = - 20 - 120

x - 3y - x + y = - 140

-2y = - 140

y = - 140 / - 2 = 70

Hence present age of geeta is 70 years.
