Let the present age of Maya = M + 10, 10 years ago: M years
let the present age of Santoshi = S + 10, 10 years ago: S yrs
M : S = 7 : 5 => 5 M = 7 S
the difference of their ages is always the same, whether it is 10 yrs ago or 8 yrs ago or at present or 8 yrs in future. From the above ratio and equation, we know that Maya is older. Hence, M = S + 10
substitute this in the first equation:
5 ( S + 10) = 7 S
2 S = 50 => S = 25 yrs
Santhoshi's age = S + 10 = 25 + 10 = 35 years
Maya's age = Santhoshi's age + 10 yrs = 45 years.
