Answer:

Let age of X be a

And age of Y be b

According to question

10 years from now

a + 10 = 2(b + 10)

= a + 10  =  2b + 20

Therefore a - 2b = 10   -----1

And ten years ago

a  - 10 = 6(y - 10)

= a - 10 = 6b -60

Therefore 6b - a = 50   ------2

Adding 1 and 2

6b - a = 50

-2b + a = 10

= 4b = 60

Therefore b = 15

Substituting in 1 we get

a = 40

Therefore X is 40 years old

And Y is 15 years old

hope this helped

Answer:

x=40

y=15

Step-by-step explanation:

by \: the \: conditions \: given \: in \: the \: question \\ (x + 10) = 2(y + 10) \\ x +10 = 2y + 20 \\ x - 2y = 10 -  -  -  -  -  - (1) \\ (x - 10) = 6(y - 10) \\ x - 10 = 6y - 60 \\ x - 6y =  - 50  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  - (2) \\ x - 2y = 10 \\ x - 6y =  - 50 \\ 4y = 60 \\ x = 15 \\ x - 2(15) = 10 \\ x - 30 = 10 \\ x = 40
