The loss percentage is 4.375%.

  • 100 mangoes are bought for Rs 80.

Cost of 100 mangoes is Rs.80.

  • Out of the 100 mangoes, 10 are spoilt.
  • Number of mangoes remaining = 90
  • Remaining mangoes are sold for 85 paise each.

Selling price of 90 mangoes = 0.85 × 90 = Rs. 76.5

  • As the selling price is less than the cost price , it is a loss.
  • Loss = Cost price - Selling price = Rs.80 - Rs 76.5 = Rs. 3.5

Loss percentage = \frac{Loss}{Cost \ price} × 100

Loss percentage = \frac{3.5}{80} × 100

Loss percentage = 4.375%
