A family must catch a train on the other side of a river. The train is leaving in 30 minutes. They have been joined by their friend, a cop who want to help them cross the river.

RULES
1.The cop can cross the river in 1 minute ,father in 3 minutes, mother in 6 minutes, daughter in 8 minutes and son in 12 minutes.
2.If two people are on the raft,they will cross the river in the time that it would take for the slower person to cross alone....

first of all the cop would make the father cross the river .

so 3 minutes have gone

now the cop would return to other side in one minute.

Now cop would take mother to other side of river.

Now 3+1+6=10 minutes have gone.

He would go to other side in one more minute and give up the raft to son and daughter.

till now 11 minutes have passed.

The daughter could now easily go to the other shore with the son in 12 minutes.

Now 23 minutes have passed.

Now the family have enough time of 7 minutes to catch the train.

it takes 3 minutes the remain time is 27 minutes ,then came back father it takes 3 minutes the remain time is 24 minutes.then cross the son and daughter it takes 12 minutes remain time is 12 then return the cop it takes 1 minutes remain time is 11 minutes then cross father and mother it takes 6 minutes the remain time is 5 minutes .the 5 minutes is sufficient for catch the train.
