The World Health Organisation says the coronavirus pandemic is the "defining global health crisis of our time", capable of revealing the best and worst in humanity. On April 22, the WHO's director-general said the virus "will be with us for a long time", pointing to the early stages of outbreaks in some countries, and an uptick of cases in others.
