100ml of water was added into 300gm of dry soil, kept on a filter paper in a funnel. The amount of water collected in the graduated cylinder below was found to be 20ml. Calculate the percentage of water absorbed by soil .

Answer:

Clearly , volume of water absorbed = 100 – 20 = 80 mL .

Percentage absorbed = ( 80 / 100 ) * 100 = 80%
