AnsWer :

x = 1 / 2.

SolutioN :

Let splitting the middle term.

→ 100x² - 20x + 1 = 0.

→ 100x² - 10x - 10x + 1 = 0.

→ 10x( 10x - 1 ) - 1( 10x - 1 ) = 0.

→ ( 10x - 1 )( 10x - 1 ) = 0.

Either,

→ 10x - 1 = 0.

→ 10x = 1.

→ x = 1 / 10.

Or,

→ 10x - 1 = 0.

→ 10x = 1.

→ x = 1 / 10.

Therefore, the value of x is 1 / 10 and 1 / 10.

Other Method :

By Quadratic Formula.

Compare With General Equation.

ax² + bx + c = 0.

where as,

  • a = 100.
  • b = - 20.
  • c = 1.

 \tt \bullet \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \boxed{ \tt x =  \dfrac{ - b \pm \sqrt{ {b}^{2} - 4ac } }{2a} }

 \tt \mapsto x =  \dfrac{ 20\pm \sqrt{ {\Big( - 20\Big)}^{2} - 4(100)( 1)} }{2 \times 100}

 \tt \mapsto x =  \dfrac{ 20\pm \sqrt{ 400- 400} }{2 \times 100}

 \tt \mapsto x =  \dfrac{ 20\pm \sqrt{0} }{2 \times 100}

 \tt \mapsto x =  \dfrac{ 2 \cancel0}{20 \cancel{0}}

 \tt \mapsto x =  \dfrac{  \cancel2}{ \cancel{2}0}

 \tt \mapsto x =  \dfrac{1}{10}
