  • Emperor Harsha, better known as the Harsha, was the last of the great empires in ancient India prior to Islamic invasion and lived between 590 and 647 CE. Harsha as a patron of literature as well as education . He wrote three Sanskrit plays himself, Nagananda, Ratnavali, Priyadarshika. A quarter of his income went to scholars to protect them.
  • The king of the Vakataka dynasty in India was Pravarasena II. The early death of his father dad led to the ruling by Prabhavatigupta for a long time as his sons Divakarasena, Damodarasena and Pravarasena II were all minors.  Most of the known inscriptions in Vakataka belong to the Pravarasen era. He is also responsible for a job in Prakrit called Setubandha or Ravanavaho.
  • Mahendravarman I was a Pallavan king who in today's Tamil Nadu ruled the northern regions of India. Under the rule of Mahendravarman, Tamil literature flourished (developed). Appar and Sambandhar wrote the popular Tevaram during this reign. The author Mattavilasa Prahasana and another plays called Bhagavadajjuka was Mahendravarman himself.
  • Hāla was a king of Satavahana, who controlled the Deccan region of today. He was appointed the 17th ruler  of the Satavahana dynasty by the Matsya Purana. Hala is renowned for an anthology of the Gaha Sattasai Maharashtri Prakrit poetry
