Given :

102 × 99

Solution :

It can be written as ;

(100 + 2) × (100 - 1)

So, using identity;

(x + a) (x - b) = x² - bx + ax - ab

Here,

x = 100,

a = 2

b = 1

Now,

(100 + 2) × (100 - 1)

⇒(100)² - 100 + 200 - 2

⇒ 10000 + 100 - 2

⇒ 10100 - 2

⇒ 10098

Hence,

The answer is 100098.
