Hi ,

****************************

We know the algebraic identity

( a + b ) ( a - b ) = a² - b²

***********************************

Now ,

102 × 98

= ( 100 + 2 ) ( 100 - 2 )

By using above identity ,

= ( 100 )² - 2²

= 10000 - 4

= 9996

I hope this helps you.
