The  article  cost price is Rupees 600 and option (a) is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

The  article  cost price is Rupees.600.

Given:

An article is sold by a shopkeeper  at a gain of 10 percentage..

Had  shopkeeper sold the article  at a loss of 20 percentage, the article price would have been Rs.180 less.

To Find:

The article  cost price.

Formula Used:

Selling Price = Cost Price x[(100+ Gain %)/100]

Selling Price = Cost Price x[(100- Loss%)/100]

Solution:

Let  the article cost price is  Rs.p.

As given-  An article is sold by a shopkeeper at a gain of 10 percentage.

As given - Had  shopkeeper sold  the article  at a loss of 20 percentage , the article price would have been Rupees 180 less.

Selling Price at 10 percentage  gain - Selling Price at 20 percentage loss =Rupees 180

p\times\frac{( 100+10)}{100}  -p\times\frac{( 100-20)}{100} = 180

p\times 1.1 -p\times 0.80 =180

0.3p =180

p=\frac{180}{0.3}

 p= Rupees\ 600

Thus, the article cost price is Rupees 600 and option (a) is correct.
