107. A woman has Rs. 550 in her purse. She has only Rs. 50
and Rs. 10 note which are 23 in total, then Rs. 10 notes
in her purse are :

Answer :

Let the Rs. 50 notes be x and Rs. 10 notes be y

50x + 10y = 550

Also it is given that, x + y = 23

x = 23 - y

Substituting,

50(23 - y) + 10 y = 550

1150 - 50y + 10y = 550

1150 - 550 = 40y

y = 600/40

y = 15

x = 23 - 15 = 8

No.of Rs. 10 notes = y = 15

Ie (a) 15 is the correct answer
