10g of hydrogen and 64g of oxygen were filled in a steel vessel and exploded volume of gaseous product after reaction...

solution : we know, hydrogen and oxygen react to form water and water is liquid so after reaction, we have to exclude volume of water to get remaining volume of gaseous substance.

no of mole of hydrogen = 10/2 = 5mol

no of mole of oxygen = 64/32 = 2mol

in reaction, 2H_2+O_2\rightarrow2H_2O it is clear that 2 moles of hydrogen react with one mole of oxygen.

so, 5 moles of hydrogen react with 2.5 moles of oxygen.

but oxygen is given only 2mol .

so, oxygen is limiting reagent. hence, water is formed by preferring of oxygen.

here, one mole of oxygen forms two moles of water

so, 2 moles of oxygen form 4 moles of water.

now, rest gaseous substance in the vessel = (5 - 4) + (2 - 2)mol = 1 mol

so, volume of gaseous substance after reaction = 1 × 22.4L
