Given info : 10g of common salt is dissolved in 20% aqueous solution.

To find : The amount of water added in solution is ..

solution : we have to find amount of water required to prepare 20 % aqueous salt solution by adding 10g of common salt.

here concentration of solution = 20 %

mass of solute ( common salt ) = 10g

let mass of water = x g

so mass of solution = (10 + x)g

concentration of solution = mass of solute/mass of solution × 100.

⇒20 = 10/(10 + x) × 100

⇒20 = 1000/(10 + x)

⇒10 + x = 50

⇒x = 40g

Therefore the amount of water added in the solution is 40g.
